Safety
Carson-Mitchell, Inc. is dedicated to maintaining a safe work
environment that can operate to ensure that our employees and
subcontractors can work safely. To achieve this goal we have
a safety program in place that continuously educates our employees
on safe work techniques and at recognizing possible threats as
they occur.
Build Safe Partnership Program
As a result of our outstanding safety program and accident
history we meet eligibility requirements to participate in
the Build Safe Partnership Program, an alliance between the
Builders’ Association and the Occupational Safety and Health
Administration (OSHA). This program eliminates random OSHA
inspections reducing losses in production time.
Continuing Safety Education
In addition to all of employees being OSHA 10 hour trained
all personnel are given annual first-aid and CPR update
training as well as continued new and/or updated OSHA
training on such topics as scaffolding, forklift operations,
fall protection, excavation safety and any other subjects
where we see a need for training. Our crane operators
and riggers are all CCO certified, both written and hands
on training. We also maintain Mine Safety Health Act
(MSHA) and Process Safety Management (PSM) training for a
large portion of our crew. Each employee carries a picture
I.D. card indicating those areas of safety training for
which their training is current.
Drug Policy
In addition to the directly related safety training, our
laborers, carpenters, and equipment operators participate
in the Construction Industry Substance Abuse Program
(CISAP), wherein they have voluntarily subjected themselves
to random drug testing. There are very few general
contractors in this program in southwest Missouri.
